Threats that pose on Medical Devices

As discussed, there are different levels of risk with medical devices. Some Medical Devices only touch your outside and skin while others are on the inside. This is why cybersecurity has posed a threat to Medical Devices over the last years. The picture on the right shows how some Medical Devices that are critical to your health run on wireless and implatable technology and usually need systems/program to run. Cybersecurity has grown into something more and more important for these devices because if some of them can get bypassed or hacked they can pose a big threat to your life rather then a simple computer or data. To fight, many refulations are beeing put into place since devices like pacemakers can become lethal to the patient and vulnerable to hackers. This is another example how Medical Devices work together with other sectors, they need good cryptography and security to operate correctly.
